I chose this quote because I’m extremely environmental, and I’m very aware of what is happening because of global warming. The message it shows us is how ignorant we can be. I perceive the voice of this quote to be very sarcastic. The author sends a message how “unimaginitive” a person can be. I also perceive this quote as we are so self- centered that we could not see beyond common sense. That people would completely panic if something did happen to water supply. It communicates be because its true how ignorant and lack of culture the people can have because of lack of education or common sense. I think that not many people are aware of a material or object that serves as a piece of survival, and that look beyond common sense, and just don’t get it. I would visually express this message through a tube that runs through the page and a drop of water is formed by this quote. I would also like to send a message of what if that would be the last drop of water in our life. What would we think beyond that drop of water or someone that is so essential for our everyday life styles. I wanted to do a type of mix media. Using spray paint, and the printing text water drop. I would like to point out that the spray paint has no CFC’s which deplete the ozone layer.

“If we lived in a desert and our lives depended on a water supply that came out of a steel tube, we would inevitably watch that tube and talk about it understandingly. No citizen would need to be lectured about his duty toward its care and spurred to help if it were in danger. Teachers of civics in such a community might develop a sense of public responsibility, not only by describing the remote beginnings of the commonwealth, but also how that tube got built, how long it would last, how vital the intake might be if the rainfall on the forested mountains nearby ever changed in seasonal habit ot amount. It would be a most unimaginative person, or a stupid one, who could not see the vital relation between the mountains, the forests, that tube and himself.” Isaiah Bowman, “Headwaters Control and Use - Influence of Vegetation on Land-Water Relationships” 1937.

“Destroy & Rebuild, New York” are artists that I met in Soho and I bought one of their pieces. They are equally obsessed for stencil, silk printing, and collage as I am. Their mission is to create urban art by combining mediums such as photography, graphic design and graffiti, and combine them to tell a story. They want to show experiences and environments. They want to inspire creativity to the youth “so we can pick up where they leave off so their way of life can live on.” The piece I bought is combined with paper, printing, and spray paint, so in my piece I included each material wisely. Another piece is called the “Devil girl” and is a stencil and has a solid background with some wording. I also added this organization to my piece, because it’s simple and very creative.
